Program Goals
STEM Academy courses allow high school students in grades 9–12 to:
- Learn technical and workplace essential skills from practicing APL computer scientists, engineers, and other STEM professionals
- Learn about real-world applications of STEM unique to APL’s work
- Experience hands-on learning
- Explore career development opportunities
- Have fun in a supportive environment
We offer both technical and workplace essentials courses. Review our course catalog to learn more about STEM Academy offerings. Courses are scheduled based on instructor availability, so not all courses are offered each session.
Program Cost
STEM Academy requires a $59-per-course commitment fee for each 12-week high school course. Fees are used for college scholarships issued by the APL STEM Program Management Office. Payment for each course must be made within seven days of notification of selection or the spot will be offered to the next person on the waiting list. If you are unable to pay for a course, financial assistance is available upon request by contacting stemacademy@jhuapl.edu.
