Registering for Courses

Have you taken a STEM Academy course before and want to register for another course? Check the timeline to see when registration opens. Courses fill up quickly because class sizes are small (1:10 student–teacher ratio) and a percentage of slots are always reserved for new STEM Academy applicants.

As a returning student, you receive priority placement in STEM Academy courses. This priority placement allows you early access to course sign-ups. Once all returning student slots are filled, interested students will automatically be placed on a waitlist for their top choice class and notified if a slot becomes available.

The registration procedure has changed. Starting fall 2025, all returning students will be required to fill out an online form to request their top three course preferences. Course placement is not guaranteed until confirmed by the STEM Academy program specialist by email. Returning students will only be placed in a second class if they indicate an interest in taking two classes and there is still room after returning students applying within the priority window have their first class assigned.

Additional updated detailed instructions are coming in summer 2025.

Note: 8th-grade students moving to 9th grade must apply for the high school STEM Academy program as a new student. However, they will receive priority consideration as a result of their participation in prior APL STEM programs.
